Way to Keep Your Vessel Documentation: Vessel Documentation Reinstatement

vessel documentation reinstatement

Did you miss the deadline for renewing your documentation and worry you’re going to lose your documented number? Does it feel like you don’t have any other options? The good news is that you do. There is something you can do, right now, to make your documentation valid again. At our site, you can choose to “Reinstate Certificate.” That way, you can make sure that you’re in compliance with the powers that be, come what may.

Vessel Documentation Reinstatement is Not “Renewal”

When you realize that your documentation has expired, that you’ve missed the renewal date, if you’re like so many other vessel owners, your first course of action might be to file for “renewal.” That’s understandable, but incorrect in this circumstance. Once you’ve missed the “renewal” date, you can no longer “renew.” Instead, the only thing you can do at that point is to go the “reinstatement” route. That said, at our site, filing for “reinstatement” is as easy as can be: just click on it, then follow the form. We’ve marked the areas you have to fill out to make it that much easier.

Before You Need Reinstatement

For many vessel owners, reinstatement is a bit of a “last resort.” The better, more proactive course of action is to renew. If you’re on our site, you don’t have to go anywhere for the renewal form – it’s literally our home page. Should you fill out that form and send it in before your documentation expires, you won’t have to go through the reinstatement process. That said, we don’t recommend filing for renewal too early (typically months and months ahead of your renewal date) as that can be a waste of money.

Taking Care of Renewal Ahead of Time

Of course, we don’t recommend “manually” renewing well in advance. There is a way to renew in advance, saving plenty of time and worry in the process. At our site, you can actually choose to renew for years in advance. How it works is very simple: for an added fee, we’ll renew on your behalf every year, up to five years. That way, you never have to worry about “reinstatement” in the slightest, not for (potentially) the next half decade. Instead, you’re free to go out and enjoy your vessel as you please.

Getting Started With Vessel Documentation

Before worrying about renewal, reinstatement, or any of that, you have to get your vessel documented in the first place. We can help with that as well. Indeed, even if you haven’t purchased a vessel yet, you can use our Abstract of Title to find out what you need to know about a vessel when you need to know it. At our site, we understand that documentation for vessels can be a bit difficult to parse at times. That’s why we have document processors on staff, of course, going through all of your forms after you send them to us. We also have a top flight staff who can take your questions at (866) 343-0530.
